Gaboon Adder

(Bitis gabonica)
Northern Kwazulu-Natal, North-Western Mozambique, Eastern Zimbabwe

Head flattened and broad – [Triangular in shape]. Body short and stocky. Adults length: Male – 1230mm Female – 1350mm

The back has a geometric pattern in brown and purple, interspersed with pastel colours. The underside or belly is lighter in colour with darker blotches.
